Told by an Idiot have been creating the unexpected since 1993. We inhabit the space between laughter and pain, and through playful collaborative writing, anarchic physicality and a comedic sensibility we create genuinely spontaneous experiences for audiences.
We have worked in partnership with celebrated companies such as the RSC, national theatres of Scotland and Wales, Chichester Festival Theatre and the Royal Exchange Manchester.
Maria’s role is Assistant Producer and she works on productions and across Taught by an Idiot programmes.
Zoo Co is a multi-award winning theatre company that champion creative access, working with deaf and disabled artists as leaders on every project. We create all shows ‘Relaxed as Standard’, and our productions strive to deliver creatively integrated access for deaf, disabled, neurodiverse and Visually Impaired audiences using integrated sign language, creative captioning, audio description and other technologies.

Maria’s role was Creative Associate and Assistant to the Artistic Director supporting with creative access across the company.
Shows include Perfect Show for Rachel at the Barbican 2022 & 2024, and Night Shift at Stanley Arts.
Angel Shed is a charity specialising in inclusive performing arts for children and young people.
We provide a safe space for children to express themselves, develop confidence, and grow into curious, creative, and courageous young people.
Maria facilitates Youth Theatre 1 (10-13) and Youth Theatre 2 (13-19).
Foreign Affairs is a theatre company which focuses on theatre in translation, intercultural exchange and collaboration and performance in unconventional spaces.
We collaborate with multicultural artists and creatives (locally & internationally) to discover and explore new ways of training performers and theatre-makers, and of making theatre that challenge the status quo.
Maria’s role was Engagement Coordinator and Facilitator. She produced and delivered outreach and professional development programmes such as Make Theatre with Maria Laumark.
Royal Court is one of the leading new writing venues and have helped to launch the careers of the world’s leading playwrights.
Maria’s role was Interim Producing Coordinator supporting producing in-house shows, US tours and West End transfers. She also supported the International Department with residencies and provided Access Consultancy.
Shows include The Sound of the Underground, For Black Boys Who Have Considered Suicide When The Hue Gets Too Heavy (West End), seven methods of killing kylie jenner (US), Black Superhero, Graceland and No I.D.
A UK theatre company focusing on new international plays, skills exchange and collaborations with the Nordic countries.
Maria’s role was Creative Associate and Festival Coordinator.
Projects incl. New Nordics Festival 2020, Plays by Post, Nordic Talks on Sustainable Leadership in the Arts, New Nordic Voices & New Nordics Festival 2021.
Shows include Risky Business at Stanley Arts and Rooted at Omnibus Theatre co-written by Liv Ello and co-directed by Zoo Co’s Artistic Director Flo O’Mahony.
Zoo Co’s Young Company also use creative integrated sign language and all performances are relaxed as standard.
Maria’s role was Co-Director 2022 - 2024 and Interim Community Producer April - August 2023.
Katla Theatre is an award-winning, emerging company focusing on cross-cultural stories, with roots in devising and physical theatre.
We strive to merge text, movement and soundscape to bring stories to life in new and vivid ways.
Maria was Artistic Director and writer of Mary & Mietek.
Shows include Mary & Mietek performing at Camden Fringe 2021, The Space 2022, Reykjavík Fringe Festival 2023 and Ukraine Fringe Festival 2023.
Maria worked as a Facilitator on the Old Vic Theatre's employability programme for Year 11-13 building core skills through theatre.
She also worked as a Lead Facilitator on Schools Club, delivering playwriting and directing workshops for Year 9-11.
European Drama Encounter promotes intercultural work through theatre with children and young people in Europe.
This encounter took place in Croatia in 2022 with a group of young people from UK, Denmark, Finland, Hungary and Croatia.
Maria worked as a Director and created a physical short film as well as a site-specific performance.
One of Denmark’s leading venue for children and young people. Maria was part of Filuren’s talent programme (SGK) and have been working with them since she was 18 in various roles.
While living in Denmark, she was a lead facilitator across multiple programmes for young people aged 4-25, creating and producing up to 20 shows a season.
She also did a season as Assistant Director on professional shows and she wrote SGK’s first year show for three consecutive years.
She now delivers a number of regular masterclasses for their SGK programme.
